Practice/Game 2

Nic had his second basketball practice and game yesterday.  Both teams were given 30 minutes to practice.

Then the teams played four 6-minute periods.

The boy in the green shorts looks much older than the rest of the boys.  He must be a good foot taller than the others.  Needless to say, the blue team one.  But Nicolas and his team played hard and had fun.  Nic scored twice, but one was after the whistle blew so it didn’t count.  Here’s the one that did count:

Here are the pictures of the first basketball practice/game.

He really was awesome.  But I can’t figure out who’s cuter: player or coach?

I just love watching Andy try to avoid getting hit by seven different basketballs.  Who knew seven- and eight-year-olds could be so dangerous!

Our next game is at 11am this morning.  I’ve got new batteries in my camera.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get more pictures of the boy.

Popcorn,movies and very little sleep

Nicolas hosted his first sleepover Saturday night. We picked up his friend Andrew and then we all headed over to CiCi’s for pizza. Then it was off to rent movies for the boys (and us) before heading home. We let the kids run wild, play playstation, eat popcorn, and stay up until they crashed out. I even bought nicolas soda (no sugar and no caffeine, sprite zero) and he thought that was awesome. Sunday morning I made M&M pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon and the boys loved it. We took Nic’s friend home around noon and they both asked if they could do it again next weekend. We all survived our first sleepover but Becky and I are thinking it will be awhile before we do another sleepover.

Basketball - Day 1

Today was the boys first organized basketball game. They didn’t have a coach yet for his team so I agreed to be the coach for the day. I wish I could coach all season but I will have to head back to school soon. Becky has some pictures she will post later. The kids had fun, nothing too serious. Some of the kids played before, some haven’t, but all enjoyed playing. Nicolas scored 3 baskets. We are so proud of him. He was a great sport and had fun and that’s all we ask for. Well, he also looked so cute in his basketball gear!

Planes, NO Trains, and automobiles

So Monday Night the cubscouts had a paper airplane contest. Nicolas made 4 different planes for 4 different contest. We had a lot of fun making them. We test flew them and all was well but I think the humidity caused the paper to get a little wet because the planes didn’t fly very well in the competition. But that didn’t matter for best decoration. He won 2nd place for his wolf scout theme that he drew and colored himself. If you remember, he won best paint scheme for his pinewood derby car. The boy is way creative, now we just need a boat or train competition and we will have conquered the major travel mediums.
